Le monotype « Rose Oddity » – Automne 2019
This composition using the “Layered Glass” technique is made with acrylic paint and rendered using a structuring and binding computer code:
- The double rising spiral varies in angle by monotype. It is a nod to the sinusoids of the first images of the video clip “Space Oddity” by David Bowie.
- The spirals randomly contain “thorns” identifiable by their size and not their color, because we never see the thorns on which we prick.
- The thorns give rise to a rod of blood-red DNA which crosses this caduceus and “nourishes” the stem, straight and thin.
- As with most flowers, the petals strictly respect the phyllotaxis, that is to say the order and the plant structure based on the Fibonacci sequence (same pattern as a sunflower heart for example), and therefore tends towards the golden angle (137.5 °). This rose contains 34 petals.
Thus, the monotype, represents a rose, simple and light; transparent on its nature, strong and elegant.
